Happy Body Meets the Floor
Floorwork as a home base.
This workshop focuses on the relationship between our body and the floor. The floor as a home—a base for movement, a base of support. The parts of the body as engines. The starting point is understanding that the floor is a partner we can use to move more efficiently. The class follows a “brick by brick” structure, building a sequence from beginning to end. Understanding the mechanics of movement will help us maximize our ability to move with more freedom and less effort. The parts of the body as engines of movement. The class is structured like a building, from the base to the culmination, both in sequence and energy.

Ravid Abarbanel is a Dancer, Choreographer, and Contemporary Dance Teacher, based in Barcelona since 2023.
She graduated from the Professional Dance Program Maslool at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam and holds a Bachelor’s degree in B-Dance from the Academy of Music and Dance in Jerusalem.
Among her works are: Underneath, ALIZA, WildHome, HomeLima, Home NC, Uprooted, Thoughts about Leaving, and Freeze IT. She is currently creating her latest piece The Art of a Structure.
As a teacher, Ravid has developed a class methodology based on dynamic floorwork techniques and teaches classes and workshops worldwide.
She is a professor in the Master’s Program in Modern and Contemporary Dance for Dance Teachers, an initiative by the Israeli Ministry of Education, and in Barcelona, she teaches at nunart, Area Dansa: Espai de Dansa i Creació, IAB, and is a guest professor at the Institut del Teatre.
As an artist and choreographer, Ravid received the Best Performer Award at the Masdanza Danza Festival 2022, the Best Performer Award at the 15 M Festival 2023, and was awarded a full scholarship for DanceWEB and the American Dance Festival. She also won the 3 Choreography Award at the International Dance Competition Stuttgart and the Best Performer Award at Barnes Crossing SoloDuo in Cologne, Germany.
She is currently a resident at the Centre Cívic de la Barceloneta and L’Estruch Fàbrica de Creació in Sabadell.
